Jared's Wedding

Lisa's kid brother, Jared, got married last Thursday on the 14th of August. Lisa can't believe that her little bro is all grown up. It was great to be there in the temple with them and reflect on the blessings of eternal marriage. Not only did it make us happy for them, but it also made us reflect yet again on how grateful we are to be together to learn and grow and raise children. It was awesome. Congratulations Jared on a beautiful temple marriage, and may you have many years of happiness ahead of you!

I hate spiders!!

So yesterday evening while doing the dishes, I feel a tickle on my arm and look down to see a fairly large house spider crawling up my arm. Gross. Instead of screaming, I made a face, brushed it off, and stomped on it when it fell to the floor. Not bad for a girlie chick like me, right? Well the exact same night I was caught by surprise yet again. Imagine going to turn off the light in the family room on your way to bed and seeing this poking out of your doorbell machine on the wall:

I've decided that my spider tolerance changes with the size of the spider. Those legs were all his by the way. He was a wolf spider that was easily 2 inches in size. I tried to document the catching and killing that Scott did...which included hairspray, lighter fluid, bleach spray, and a big glass bowl to trap it under, but I couldn't stop shaking the camera so you can't see it, and I was screaming like the girlie girl I really am, which is too embarrassing to post.
So much for my earlier bravery. The part that kills me is I can manage to be afraid of a little spider, but not be afraid when walking the streets of La Paz, bolivia through a dark alley at night being followed by a few drunks. What's my deal? I'm glad my daughter wasn't awake to see me scream. Is it too late in the year to have my house sprayed?

So according to this website, our son looks like both of us...hmmmm big suprise. I was hoping it would say which features were more like me and which were like his, but oh well.

Babies are the best!

Seth is getting more responsive to the world around him. Here's our little seven weeker responding to mommy's voice:

Catching up

So much has happened in the last couple of weeks, and unfortunately I've been lousy at picture taking so I can't show you all as well as I'd like.
Scott's family has been in town for Seth's baby blessing. It was awesome to have them. After they left, Crystal thanked Heavenly Father in her prayers that night for "Pops and Grandma Itri."

We had a great Pioneer day, which we spent with Megan's family. Crystal had her first experience playing with sparklers. Yes, I know, 2 and a half is a long wait to let her experience this, but what can I say, I'm an overprotective mom:



The power went out, so we all hung out outside in the dark and talked a lot.








The next day Lisa's cousin, Oscar got married and we went to the reception at The Riverside Country Club. Lisa's dad performed the ring ceremony, and did a great job.

The food was absolutely delicious, and we enjoyed some good latino dancing. Crystal had a blast, as she enjoyed the dancing the most:

On Sunday we blessed Seth. (I will post pictures of those later). Scott gave him a beautiful blessing, and it was great to see family and friends there. It was a fun week and it was more special because we got to spend it with family.

Going to Heaven

Crystal has been learning about the Joseph Smith story for the past while is has been pretty fascinated with it. Along with that she also likes talking about Heavenly Father and Jesus.
Last night when I was tucking her into bed she looked concerned and said "Mommy I don't want to go to heaven with Heavenly Father and Jesus." I asked why and she said "Because then I will be lost!" So I told her not to worry and that we would all be in Heaven together, and that she would be with Mommy, Daddy and Seth too.
She then replied: "We're all going to the forest then?"
I then realized that because we've taught her that Joseph Smith went to the forest when he saw God and Christ, that she connected Heaven with being in the forest. I told her that Heaven wasn't in the forest and that it was a different place, and that we would all be there together one day, which made her happy, and I figured she understood.
As I kissed her goodnight and walked out the room, I heard her saying as I closed the door "We're all going to a different forest, okay Mommy?" lol. I think I'm going to have to show her some more pictures of Heavenly Father and Jesus in other places besides the Sacred Grove.
It's so much fun to watch her learn about the Gospel. I just love my little girl!

Independence Day

What a fabulous fourth of July weekend! This was the first independence day we spent with Scott's family, and it did not dissapoint. We went up to Aunt Jill's house in Layton to hang out and have a barbecue. After we ate, we went up to a nearby park and had a huge family game of softball. Yes, even the wives played, and it was fun.

After that, we took a break back at the house and Crystal played on the slip and slide with Her great aunts Jill and Cathy, and great uncle Michael.

When the slip and slide was taken down and put away, everyone played a whole lot of volleyball.

Then we went to watch the fireworks show:

Then we went back to the house yet again to use some of Todd's "Special" fireworks to blow up some tennis balls, and after that we played games until 3:30 in the morning. It was a super long day, but a lot of fun! Hope you all had a happy fourth!

MY WONDERFUL WIFE

I would like to express my love and appreciation for my wonderful wife. She is a great mom and she does so much for this family. She always knows how to help the children and how to help her husband. She just gave birth to our second child and there isn't another person that I would rather have taking care and raising our kids. She is so great with Crystal and Seth. She is also a wonderful wife. She always makes me feel better when I am down, she supports me when I change my mind on things (which I do often), and she puts up with my flaws. I love her and appreciate everything she does. She is the greatest!

It's really hard (at least for me) to catch a newborn smile on camera since they just randomly appear, and usually when their asleep, but look people, he has dimples!! (Sorry it's a little blurry...I had to be quick to push the button)

YES, I REALIZE FATHERS DAY WAS A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, but I'm still figuring out a routine as to how to take care of two kids so I'm a little behind on everything.
Even though my husband already got his Fathers day gift- an iphone...oh and a son too (; I'd like to do one more thing and give 10 reasons in no particular order as to why I love my man:

1. He cooks dinner. I'm a scavenger eater, meaning I fish around and pick at foods throughout the day rather than make my own meals. I'll make a small meal for my daughter for lunch, but I'm really lazy when it comes to dinner. If it wasn't for Scott I'd starve.

2. He tells me he loves me several times every day. Who doesn't want to hear that they are loved? The other thing he does everyday is he thanks me for cleaning the house.


3. He always makes time to play with his kids when he's home from work and tired.

4.He can fix almost anything that's broken. Before I was married I used to make fun of men for thinking they can fix everything...but he really does fix everything. The treadmill, the computer, my phone, the closet door, the vacuum, my brothers xbox, etc. The list goes on and on.

5. He's patient. This is a requirement since he's married to me. You people have no idea how much patience I require. I can be pretty difficult.

6. He makes me laugh. It helps that we have the same sense of humor. Our favorite movies to watch together are comedies, we watch those more than any action movie or chick flick together. For us, it's all about laughing at goofy things, including ourselves.



7. He makes sure that I get out of the house frequently. If it weren't for him I'd be cooped up at home all the time everyday. He always makes sure I get to go out to a movie with him or out to eat, or visit with my family. He makes sure that I make time for the fun in my life.

8. He's a wonderful father. There's nothing he wouldn't do for the happiness of his kids. When he's home from work he sits Crystal on his lap and asks her questions about everything she did that day, and he's her big tough hero. Whenever she's afraid she runs to him and yells "Protect me daddy!" She knows he will keep her safe.


9. He's the money man. Not only does he support and provide for me and and our kids, but he manages all the bills and organizes our budget. He makes sure we always have enough money to provide for our needs and still be able to buy things we like just for fun. He's practical when it comes to money, but not cheap. It's because of the way he manages the budget that we're able to live the way we do, and not get into debt either.


10.He's my best friend, and the best friend I've ever had or will have. I can tell him anything going on in my sometimes crazy brain. I can confide in him, trust him, depend on him, and enjoy his company. Without his company or having him to talk to I would be completely miserable. I depend on his voice, his touch, his laughter, his playfulness, and his personality with all his ups and downs to be happy. I need him, and I'm so so glad that he's mine.

Well for the second time in a row, we have a case of Jaundice. Since Scott and I have conflicting blood types and our little munchkins always end up with his blood type, they end up with Jaundice, and have to stay in the lights in the hospital, AND we always end up having to bring a billibed home for him to continue treatment out of the hospital. On the plus side, he's doing great, and improving much faster than Crystal did, and he's handling the bed really well. On the downside, it's affecting his sleeping patterns, which Mom and Dad have to suffer for. Oh well. He's still cute.

Meet Seth!

When I went to the Hospital this morning I was already dilated to a four. Within three hours I was completely dilated and pushing. He came out so fast that his face was pretty bruised up, but he took it like a champ! He weighs 7 pounds 12oz and is 19 inches long. Considering that I was in labor 11 hours with Crystal, the time flew by so fast that it was a totally different experience than last time in every way. All I can say is I am so thankful for the invention of the epidural! We love him so so much! Having a baby is complete proof that there IS such thing as love at first sight! Crystal loves him. She cried and cried that she couldn't take him home with her yet when grandma and grandpa were leaving with her.
