Jacob had the best 2nd birthday ever. He slept in, and in the morning, after Crystal was in school, Seth came running down the stairs because he couldn't wait to say "Happy Birthday" to Jacob. We went in his bedroom together and both wished him a happy birthday.
Today was Jakes special day. He got to start off the day with his milk and his blanket and watching his favorite movie, Disney's Cars.
I let him have fruit snacks, orange wedges, and apple slices while he watched TV. He thought that was the best.
Everybody who came in the room, wished him a Happy Birthday. He loved it.
Of course he was most excited when the cake, balloons and presents came out.
Here is what happened in pictures:
| Today was Jacob's birthday |
| He got lots of balloons and a pointy birthday hat |
| He even let Sammy have a balloon |
| He got his very own birthday cake!! |
| He blew out the candle all by himself |
| He got a Lightning McQueen hat and slippers! His favorite Disney character ever! |
| He showed us how his new lightning McQueen bouncy ball matched his outfit |
| He tried opening all the presents with his teeth, because for some reason that was more fun than using his hands |
| He also got a Hulk, which is what he asked for |
| Also an "Iron Patriot" figure, which he was very proud of |
| He laughed at how it had a working gun to go with it |
| He got racing gloves! |
| Then it was time for cake |
| Here we go... |
| He ate |
| And ate... |
| And ate. |
| Then he had to clean off in the bath |
| He told us all about his new toys |
| And he laughed |
| And laughed some more |
| Then he wore all his car-themed birthday clothes |
| And made sure his "Cars" ball was also included |
| He had a tantrum because his birthday hat kept falling off. He's really good at being two already. |
| After nobody heard his screams, he pouted about it on the floor, but made sure his hat was still nearby. |
Overall, he had an excellent birthday. He loved it. One thing I love about Jacob is that he always shows so much excitement and gratitude for every single gift people give him. His reactions to things you give him are the absolute best. He gasps, claps his hands, yells out in joy, and laughs and laughs. He is my most passionate and enthusistic child by far. Everything in life for him is always extremely intense, and he enjoys his high moments to the fullest.
He still sleeps with his cars blanket every night, and he's still addicted to his binky. I don't know how we'll ever get him to stop the binky habit. It's like crack for him. We're in trouble when we decide to wean him off of it.
He gives very tight hugs, he loves to run to him mom and dad and give them big sloppy kisses. He has a wicked sense of humor, and thinks aggressive, intense horseplay is the most fun and hilarious thing in the world. If you're willing to play rough with him, he will be your friend for life. Nothing makes him happer than a good wresteling match or a game of chase or hide and seek.
Last week, he said 'I love you Mama." for the first time. My heart is still melted from that moment.
Although his tantrums are extremely loud and insane, his love for his mommy and daddy is equally intense. Even though he's the third and middle child, he would rather die than be pushed around. The kid is a fighter, and he won't take no for an answer. He's learning to say his prayers. So far he's great at opening and closing, but is still working on the middle part of the whole prayer thing. He loves other kids, and is very social. He adores his baby brother Sam.
He loves to play pretend. He takes his action figures all over the house and gives them big booming voices and makes them jump off the furniture. He also loves to pretend he's a puppy and crawls around on the floor making barking sounds, and makes you pat his head. He already has a huge imagination for such a little guy.
He is a taste of my own medicine. All the things that I did to aggravate my parents as a child have been brought around full circle through him as my own form of personal karma. His nickname is the "Little angry bird" in the house because of his temper. However when all is said and done, and his tantrums blow over, I sit and hold and rock him in my lap and we cuddle, and I'm the happiest woman who ever lived, and the meltdown that took place minutes earlier is completely forgotten.
I am so thankful, lucky, blessed, and happy to have this very strong, smart, independant and loving spirit in my home. He makes our family better by being in it, and he brings so much color to every ordinary day with his personality. He is perfect just the way he is, and I wouldn't have him any other way. Happy Birthday Jacob!
