Jesus loves EVERYone.

Yesterday we had a family home evening lesson with the kids and I showed them this picture.


The conversation went as follows:

Me: Seth, who's this?

Seth: Jesus!

Me: Good Seth! Who's all around him?

Crystal: Little boys and girls!

Me: Yes that's right. Jesus loves little kids.

Seth: Jesus loves kids?

Me: Yes. Jesus loves you Seth!

Seth: Jesus loves me?

Me: Yes, Jesus loves you.

Seth: Jesus loves Sethie?

Me: Yes. Jesus loves Sethie very much.

Seth: How about Daddy?

Me: Yes, Jesus loves Daddy too.

Seth: Does Jesus love Crystal?

Crystal: Yes he does!

Me: Yup, Jesus loves Crystal too!

Seth: How about Batman? Does Jesus love Batman?

Me: (Pause)....Yes. Jesus loves Batman.

(Scott gives me doubting look)

Crystal: NO he doesn't! Jesus doesn't care about superheroes!

Me: Jesus loves EVERYone Crystal. Even Batman.

Scott: What are you saying?! He's not real!

Me: ...But if he WERE real Jesus would love him too!

Scott: ...But he's NOT so he DOESN'T!

Me: That's not the point! Seth is learning that Jesus loves everyone!

Scott: You're not teaching him the truth!! He's going to go around saying "Jesus loves Batman" and sound like a loon!

Me: IT'S THE PRINCIPLE!! Jesus loves EVERYONE!!!

Scott: But NOT IMAGINARY PEOPLE!!!

Me: Yeah, well Jesus loves Adam West, and Adam West IS Batman to Seth!


....

It's nice to know that in a world of conflict, that these are the big issues going on in my home.
On the other hand, we're blessed that we can sit around and discuss these things, it means we don't have nearly as many problems as we probably should have.


Jesus DOES love Adam West...and so do I
